The farmer chewed on the piece of grass poking out the side of his mouth. "I reckon there are about three large boars hanging out the other side of this forest, coming in at night diggin' up all my hops and disturbing my chickens. If you take care of them then I'll give you half a dozen chickens and put a good word in for you with the prince!" Faustman usually dealt in gold crowns and he doubted that this inbred had the ear of the local prince. He didn't like having to deal with the locals on such trivial tasks. Still, word gets around in these parts and any reputation gained would help in the long run. However his band of mercenaries were growing hungry and restless. This could be a good distraction for them.
Scenario: Boar hunt
Overview
Your
warband is hunting boars for food, sport or pay. However another warband was also on the trail of the boars. How willing are either warbands to come blows over such a meager prize?
Terrain
Setup in an area that is roughly 3' x 4' or 4' x 4'.
Set-up
Setup the boars exactly halfway between the table edges that the players will be setting up. Players alternate choosing where to place the boars until all 3 have been placed. Players can place the boars anywhere on the centre line but remember if a boar goes off the table edge then it is gone! Then both players roll a D6 and whoever rolls highest chooses which warband sets up first. This warband is deployed within 2" of a table edge. His opponent sets up within 2" of the opposite side.
Boars
Use the statline below for the boars.
Meat
If a boar is taken out of action it drops a meat token. Warriors ending their move on a meat token may pick it up. If a warrior takes the boar out in close combat, then he automatically picks up the meat token. Warriors taken out of action drop their meat token.
Hogs Wild
The boars sense that hunters are closing in on both sides and are running wild! At the end of each players turn standup each boar that was knocked down. Each stunned boar becomes knocked down. Then roll d6 and scatter for each boar standing to determine which way they run wild. Boars may run out of combat in this way without penalty. Any warriors moved through in this way must pass an initiative check or take a strength 3 hit. If the boar comes into contact with impassable terrain, end the movement. Otherwise the boar suffers no penalties for movement for difficult terrain and such.
Ending the game
The game ends when all the meat tokens are held and there are no boars left on the table. The game also ends if a warband routs.
The winner of the game is the warband that holds the most meat tokens. If this is equal then the warband that is last on the table wins.
Experience
+1 Survives. If a Hero or a Henchman group survives the battle they gain +1 Experience.+1 Winning Leader. The leader of the winning warband gains +1 Experience.
+1 per Boar killed. If a Hero or Henchman is takes a boar out of action he receives +1 Experience.
+1 Per Enemy Out of Action. Any Hero earns +1 Experience for each enemy he puts out of action.
Rewards
If your warband is holding at least 1 meat token at the end of the game then score 1 campaign point. Each meat token held also reduces the number of warband members by 1 for the purposes of calculating income for this post game sequence.
